My last name is Bargaineer and I would like to know where the name originated from and what does it mean.

I think it could be a fairly straightforward derivation. As to why somebody would have been called a "bargaineer" to the extent that they'd pick that up as a name, who knows. But lots of names are like that.

On the other hand, at least one Bargaineer got her name from "Bargineur". Might you have French in your background?
