the socket seems to be compatible, LGA775, but I cannot find any documentation as to which processors the mainboard can support.
Anyone?

No, it cannot take a Core 2 chip, no question at all about it. It uses the Intel 925 chipset, which definitively does not support the Core 2 Duo.

If it didn't already have a core duo, then probably not. Dell usually puts the bare minimum board to support whatever processor they install.

You might've gotten lucky though, and even though you didn't purchase one with a core duo, they might've given you a board that was excess to needs for the processor you got.

But I wouldnt' hold my breath.
