Doesn't sound like spanking is having the desired effect.
The best way to discipline a child is time out for a few minutes. Then get down on their level, look at them eye to eye and tell them their action was wrong and why. Ask them if they understand what you said, a hug, and then send them on to play. This really works !!

Sounds like spanking has gotten old for this kid. Maybe talking to them, and explaining why they need to do something differently will work better at this age? Just like "Because I said so" is not enough information after a certain age - tell them what you want them to do or not do and why they need to do it that way.

The only time I spank my kids is if they do something REALLY bad that puts themselves in immediate danger. Back talking and stuff like that gets the naughty chair.
My 3 year old has been known to say something smart then just get up and walk to the chair herself, though.

Its not great parenting when you let your kids play after a spanking? Where is the punishment? All they have to do is endure the short-term punishment, then their off to having fun again!

sounds like me as a kid. That means he must be annoyed by the parents or he doesn't feel the pain.
I learned as a parent you don't need to spank your kids. Taking away toys, TV etc , the chair or the corner.

Nope I dont have children but I use to tell my mom when I was younger ......stop threatening me that you are going to spank me ......just do it already.....because she would rant and rant about it I rather her just hit me and move on....Also at a certain point it was kinda funny when she would spank me...Her face and anger would crack me up....so she stop....then she just wanted to talk and talk .....so it is normal because most of my friends say at a certain age is not that bad anymore....

no too young (6months) but friends of ours did well kinda... he got in troubble and it was like a game for him to get spanked. She would get spanked then cry cuz it hurt but like 5 minutes later he would call down the stairs... come spank me!!!

I asked my mom that! then my dad came home and spanked me... that was the last time that i ever thought that!!!
