Gunpoint democracy, at the very least, is the source of almost all of the United States' defeats, humiliations, and extreme policy blunders.

On the other hand, a major cause of democracy is when the people rise up and start calling and writing their Representatives and Senators to demand that our President remember that he is a public servant and should be doing OUR will, NOT HIS.

Write your elected officials and demand that they block the escalation of US forces in Iraq...and that they bring our troops home NOW.

You can't force democracy at the end of a gun. Iraq is proof of that. And while it may not be "the" major cause of terrorism, it has certainly been a recruiting tool for them.

You cannot force political change in a country and not expect some form of civil upheaval, whether it be through terrorism, civil war, rioting, or civic display. Countries progress and accept political change in their own times and on their own terms.

Yes there are oppressive and corrupt governments out there, many of which are chosen by the people. We should respect a nations right to choose.

No, terrorism has its own agenda. The feeling of impotence and rage lends to terrorists acts. Consider how you would feel if an invading force moved into your neighborhood, stole your jobs, raped your women and murdered your people..... oh wait, that is happening here, it's called illegal alien invasion from Mexico. Never mind my argument. You probably side with them.

Well my feeling is that you cannot go into a region where all they know is religion as their way of governing, and try to force them to have a democracy. It doesn't work !
