I polish my floors with a furniture polish on a dust mop. This keeps the floor clean until it is time to really mop it again. Plus it looks so shiny and pretty. I use it again after I mop to get rid of any streaks.

The use of warm vinegar and water on a large soft towel wrapped around the end of a broom or your mop will help to eliminate the marks
Our house is hardware everywhere and lots of windows to let light in so marks aren't a good idea. It will also keep the shine from fading unlike floor "cleaner" products

Depends upon whether they are waxed or the urethaned variety.
Waxed floors require a little more care.
Water and detergent is not recommended for waxed wooden floors. Same principle applies as for good wooden furniture no water.
My floors are waxed and I LIGHTLY damp mop. To restore the shine, I use a buffer. If you don't own a buffer, you can use a fluffy, dry mop.
If the floor is really dirty, may be time to strip them, wax, buff. Yes waxed floors are time consuming, but they look so lovely.

Try a swiffer wand. You can get either wet or dry pads for it, and it doesnt leave mop marks. Plus, there is no bucket and no mess. I love mine. I'll never use another mop again.

Warm water and vinegar. It will kind of stink during application, but it does not last more than half an hour. It will leave your floors streak free.
Trust me on this...
