Each of those dictators used propoganda and political rhetoric to control the ideas of its population so as their acts and intentions - now considered to be evil - were accepted by the people. How can we be sure, considering the many overt and covert military operations and the almost tyrannical like power of coorporations, that we again havn't been fooled by clever rhetoric? Psychology has examined extremely thoroughly how this can happen - how the German population allowed the Nazi's to come to power and do the horrible things they did- and i think if you look closely you could argue the same tactics are being used today only this time the mistakes of the past (that is that led to their ultimate failure) are not being made to day. And this time their is no legitimate state entity with enough power or interest to step in as the allies did in WW2. Some may go of course not but ask yourself would a German citisen have thought they were part of an evil campaign?

I'd suppose that they would start with a distant and unstable part of the world becaue it has such a large supply of crucial resources, and south america has been a target of the US since the 60's onwards...its mainly covert operations so its understandable why u might not have heard of it all, but its there u just gotta look!

I'd like to add its not neccesarily the same form of world domination as the previous attempties...its more about geopolitical positioning, control of resources and control of economies to ensure maximum returns for various corporate entities...rather then controlling populations which the past has shown proves rather troublesome...

And of course technologically ans socialy things have come along way since the 40's however my question supposes that government too has come a long way since then and managed to exploit us and coerce us into accepting ideas by learning by the mistakes made in the past...im not saying they are inherently evil themselves, they too have their justificiations...but are they neccesarily any more just then those justificiations made previously?

Excellent question.
Yup, how quickly humans forget.
That´s why wars are spaced out like they are.
Usually just enough time for each generation to repeat the previous ones mistake.
Will we ever learn?
Unfortunately it´s usually the least informed, or least willing to be informed that sit back and let other people make the decisions for them.
So please people, Take an interest in what decisions are being made in government, read some books, see who owns what, and why they do what they do.
Good luck.

"It's too bad Germany didn't win." Wow - that's one hell of a statement. Why do you hate Jews, homosexuals and the handicapped? They would have all been eliminated under the Nazi regime.

I guess that kinda answers the question, too. I don't think for one second that Bush has plans to take over the world. That'd be pretty damned hard to accomplish in the year he has left, don't you think??

No one is currently trying to rule the world, the US included... come on if we were trying to rule the world why the hell would be start with a distant and very unstable region? South America would be the more logical place to start (then Africa, haven't you people played Risk?)... and we haven't

No. Times haven't changed. It's still 1940. There is no internet. No HD TV. No cell phones. You have to get up, go to the outhouse in the middle if the night, and wipe your azz with a corn cob.

It's too bad Germany didn't win. As always we were fighting the wrong people.
If we had helped to take over Africa and destroy the Middle East then we would not have the problems we have now.

If you are not an American then it looks like things haven't changed much. Our so-called leaders want everyone to trust them and they can't even get our own citizens to trust them.
