I am transferring from Cecil Community College in MD to University of Phoenix on-line. I have my associates already. My question is should I take more classes at the less expensive comm. college rate before I transfer out or no? I know some colleges require 50% of credits to be from taken @ the degree school. Is Phoenix the same way or could I transfer over with a larger number of credits?

I personally had a bad experience with U of P. They will, however, take you with as many transferrable credits from the community college as you can get. If you're just doing this to work online, most community colleges do have online courses as well as telecourses. Make sure to get all your math and foreign language credits taken care of at the community college.

The way it usually works is that you have to have your last 30-32 credit hours at the U you are getting a degree from. However, colleges are so competative that they will do just about anything to get you cash...be bareful!

Beware...the U of Phoenix is not accredited outside of the state of Arizona. If you are in Maryland, depending on what your career plans are...I would 1) think twice about U of Phoenix and 2) TRIPLE CHECK their accredidtion. 8 years ago, graduates from U of Phoneix in Arizona who wanted to pursue their teaching credential in California had a VERY HARD TIME becuase the the state didn't recognize the degrees from U of P unless it was earned ON a campus IN the state of Arizona and you have to be able to prove it.

Any degrees or diplomas from The "University' of Phoenix.....Online.....are not recognized in the academic world as having any value whatsoever....nor are any that come from institutions of higher learning that advertise on TV for students. Save yourself a lot of money and time by having nothing to do with the 'University' of Phoenix.
