Yes, it can.
To start with "eternal" just means until you die - so Titanic is about eternal love eg. OK I know I'm being facetious.
Look around and you will see a cute old lady and old man walking along together, holding hands and enjoying being together somewhere. I always love it when I see that.
If it is an outdated notion - let's re-invent it!!!

Love is eternal.
You have the love of that person in your heart and mind forever, you dont have to let love become hate, even after a breakup.
An old boy/girl friend is a new friend.
I fell in love with my husband at 17 he died when I was 24 I are now 35 and in love with another man but I will always love my husband nothing not time or distance or death can wipe that love away or make it any less.
My daughter loves her step dad but still loves her deceased father and always will.
So love is eternal as it has gone on after he has died.

To me, love is an illusion (in a good way) both partners strifes to create and live in. For it to be eternal, the lovers must first realise the flaws of the illusion as they learn about them and accept it.
Some say love is a certain state of mind and some say it is an existing "thing". I would stick with the first one, and to keep this state of mind alive is basiclly like every other kind of emotion. Believe in it. People produce certain hormones when they are in different emotional states to increase the effects of it. The same goes for love, if one is willing to beleive in love and "stick with it", work it through, I think it works out.
By the way, did I mention that Eternal love does not just "happen"? It takes time and effort to make it work.

It will, when people realize that they will never be happy when they keep searching for the perfect person. People today always try to find someone that makes them happy all the time and ditch them when they do something undesireable. That why marriage isn't happening anymore: people marry for money and fun rather than support and love.

No kind of love can be eternal..I think there's always something or someone you fall in love with..The only eternal love is the love towards you and yourself...

I believe eternal love exists.
If eternal hate can exist, why, not eternal love?
love and faith can never get out-dated, out-modelled or obsolete.
