I have the same question right now. Thinking that the life is only one way.
Many times i thought if in the past i could do things other ways (better or worse), and thinking if there are other ways i do things now (again, better or worse).
What i found is.. Even if the past will be repeated thousands times, with our mind, other's mind, the circumstances are set back to the exactly same when it happened, then the exactly same event happened in the past IS what will happen. There is no chance or reason to say "it would not happen" because what did not happen , did never happen.
Shifting the time axis from past-current to current-future, then i find nothing to do with what we call 'choices' because everything that will happen in the future will happen; and anything will not, will not.
About how we should think or do after realizing this, is another question to be asked :)
Sorry for my bad English before..
Sincerely,
Eddy

I've always thought of life as a choose your own adventure book of the 80's. Where sometimes, no matter what path you take , you may inevitably end up in one place but under different circumstances. Even if there is a one way road, what did you think of and learn on your way through it? How many pot holes did you come across? If you tripped over one, would you be leery of the next and jump over it or will you keep tripping and falling? If you keep falling will you get up quickly and move on or will you sit frustrated and curse at the world? Did you notice the blue sky above or the amber sky setting below or did you walk on seeking the end? Several people can walk upon the same road and come out different in the end. It is up to you to learn, to choose what you want to see and choose a way to perceive it. So yes, I think there is such thing as a choice of path in a one way road.

"Choose a path" is a figure of speech that means to have a goal and a plan and decide to pursue it. But no one can foresee what will actually happen along the way, and these events change everything. Your reactions and decisions based on challenges along the path move you in new, unforeseen directions. All these actions have consequences. So we never get to follow the path we choice, the way we envisioned it.
Still it helps to "choose a path." It creates a vector, a direction to move towards, though how we get there or whether we end up at a different, better destination is uncertain.

No there isn't one way while you are walking that way. There are many paths that will lead you to different things.
In the end, when you die, you will have walked a single path. The great thing about life is this single path is not set. You could walk to the mountains of Alaska and die of hyperthermia or on that same day, turn westward and find yourself in an ocean with a school of anchovies.
Or you can take one step out of bed and decide, I'm going to sleep all day and watch television.
That's the best part of life: its randomness.

Because the Roads don't all lead in the same direction, some turn and head back, some cross and merge, some hit a dead end, some keep going. Though the End of the Journey is pretty much the same, how you get there and what you have seen, learned, and felt is unique to you and only you.

Life to death IS inevitable - CHOICE has its application in HOW we live it and WHAT contribution we leave for future generations.
The how and the what are not one way, although many people do take the road well travelled with very similar outcomes. I choose to pave my own path.....I will not be alone, because I will connect with other individuals who have made the same choice in that moment..........and so, I continue................

Life is a constant stream of choices and crossroads. Virtually everything you do may lead your life in a different direction.
People make good choices and bad choices. Sometimes, they make NO choices, and just sit and complain about how their life sucks.
I have always considered myself the captain of my own ship; the director of my own play.
I fully realize that I am only in "control" of part of my life. There are countless things around me that have bearing on my life that I can neither forsee nor control.
That does not diminish the fact that I have generally steered my life in the direction I wanted it to go.

All the roads are NOT one way. There are myriad roads - in all directions including backward.
And there is nostalgia and questioning- read Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken". Truly we do not know what would have happened if we took a different road who and what we would be today.

Yes. If the roads are just one way then go down that road with your eyes wide open so you might find another path along the way.
