How many types of dancing are there?

Question

I need the results of dancing. Any info you can give me for a school report so if you would please respond. I would truely appreciate it.

That's like asking how many cultures have there been since the beginning of time. You need to be a litle more specific. You could say theres western dances and eastern dances (dividing among western civilizations and those of non western civilizations). That would be far to general for a report though. There's the traditional tap, jazz, and ballet. There's modern and interpretive dance. Then there's latin dances such as salsa, meregue, tango, even more traditional ones like flamenco. There's aisian dances, african dances, middle eastern dances, etc... theres 100's of dances just for every country I'm sure. There's ancient dances and more recent dasnces. I don't even know if it would be possible to catolog all the different types of dances that we have in recorded history. You either need to get much more specific narrowing it down to time frame/culture/country, something to give you alittle better framework. Try visiting a library or bookstore and find a book about world dances that could give you a little more focus for what you want to do for a report then ask a more specific question.

There are so many types of dance like tango and salsa and walts and all that but I think the most common types of dance to day are Ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. Those are the types that are in most dance classes.
