You never, ever will pay an agent an upfront fee- They should only get paid when you get paid.
You need to send out your resume, headshots and cover letter to agents in your area. Then, if you are lucky, you may get called in for an interview.
You should get a copy of Ross Reports, which lists all big agencies and agents. If you are located in a big market, such as NY or LA, this will be very helpful for you. Otherwise, use your Yellow Pages.
Good luck!

Good agents are paid a % commission from the jobs they book for you . . .
So, your question suggests that a person should do work to get you jobs but get no $$ for it ? They should work for you for free ?
Was that the intent of your question ? And do you work for free ? Why would someone else not get paid after working for you ?
Or are you asking about agents that charge $$ up front ?

Only legal way I could see getting a "free agent" would be to marry one. Or have a baby, train it to be an agent, insist they pursue that career and then wait until they've spent years in the industry and have the good fortune to have their own agency, then force yourself on them.
Sorry for the sarcasm, but any free agent (other than the above examples) is not an agent worth having.

In light of your recent addition info, I understand that any agent - acting, modeling, etc - who looks for upfront fees before signing you is up to no good. I'm not certain if it's true, but that's the word on the street.

good day! i'm also an actress who can help you mutually with your answer. brokers do not fee something! under no circumstances pay an agent any funds up the front. once you deliver your headshots and resume to an business business enterprise, in the journey that they prefer you they are going to call you in for an interview. in case you ace the interview; you purchased an agent! they could help you locate auditions and casting calls. regardless of the indisputable fact that, once you do e book a pastime, they could charge a 10% fee. as an party, in case you e book a nationwide advertisement and earn one thousand$, your agent would get one hundred$ of the wages earned. desire this answer helped!

My thought is this...if you aren't paying them, then don't be surprised if you don't get any work.
