I suppose blameshifting isn't a good idea when it comes to a 16 yr old dropping out of school but yes, I'm rather sick of or listening to the concept that it's all just a phase : |
"Theyre all too stupid" ...Nope I don't agree. I think they failed to be disciplined or accept discipline by one parent, both, the family and possibly most of their environment but here's the other part - they got something out of it and want to keep it up. They are lovers of "perfect" in the worse form...>I want my way I think getting my way is a lifestyle of perfection<. The question is who is allowing them to keep it up? For starters they are making the personal choice to live without right from wrong. Enabling communities allow this to continue and gang members don't realize that means who gives a rip about you. What of the parent who did everything in their power to teach their child avoidance who is mocked and ignored when they reach out for help with their child?
"Seriously have you ever seen anyone in a gang older than 25"
What do you consider the KKK?

It's ok to speak up about gangs as long as you're not on their turf or neighborhood.
And although I too hate gangs, not all gangs are made up of african americans or mexicans, for example what about skinheads, ku klux clan just to name a few.
Gangs have one thing in common they all think they're right and they are all bad.
My greatest concern is after the L.A. riots guns have been easier to get a hold of especiallly mac 10s , uzis , and other automatic weapons. And if an ordinary citizen decides to take a stand he's labled a vigilanti. So wher does that leave honest hard working Americans?

street gangs/inner city gangs are the result of poor parenting skills, kids with no authority figures,no structure and no means of a stable life,so in turn they seek the acceptance from gangs and conform to it because that is all they know.kids in gangs or ones about to be in gangs drop out and are stupid because they have no driving force to do the right thing.it is a cycle that will continue, until people know how to raise their kids, but if people are having kids and don't have resources to lead their kids in the right path, the cycle will continue,in other words,if johnny is not getting positive attention at home,he seeks out attention from joe blow on the street, and the attention given by joe blow is what johnny becomes accustomed to.parents must take responsibility, and be parents.the reason it is glorified in song and culture is it makes money and without proper parenting and good mentors, music stars,or anyone glorifying the lifestyle becomes the rolemodel,so of course kids will buy into it,that's what they perceive as cool.

Sometimes, girls and boys need to be in a gang, for support. If nothing criminal happens in the gang, nothing is really wrong with joining a gang. It's something like a club, isn't it?

the whole gang thing is just a big corporate marketing scam to sell bandannas and hip hop records to kids. As long as there are gangs, the companies selling this stuff will continue to get rich..not to mention the black market gun dealers. Gangs are nothing but a cheesy product to get kids money.

gangs are terrible. I don't understand why they are glorified in modern hip hop culture. However, whenever you have insulated, impoverished groups you'll have gangs, like the Italian and Irish mobs of earlier 20th century etc
