My pines are yellow, but not dead. Being that it is winter, I was wondering if I gave them coffee (because of the acid content) if it will give them a boost before feeding in the spring?

it wont hurt, the acid in coffee is weak, though, basically just feed them the grounds, not the coffee it self. feed them now, pines need sustance in the winter too. try miracle grow.

white pines louse 30 % of there needles every year you need to leave the needles on the ground for the tree dont rake all the needles up the grounds will help a little what you can do also is look around the trunk of the tree and see if theres any sap coming out in little holes around the trunk if there is thay need to be sprayed thay have the beetle bora that will kill every pine in your yard good luck

Pine needles are high in acid content so the ones that fall of the tree will naturally add acid to the soil. You can get tree spikes for pine trees at any home depot, lowes. etc.

adding coffee grounds is fine, but the best way to acidify the soil around ur pine tree is to mulch with pine needles. in other words, leave the pine needles where they fall. however, it's winter, ur pines are probably not gonna put forth any new growth till spring.

they are probably yellow from dormancy. it is winter, whether it feels like it or not. If you DO need acid, there are acid fertilizers (like Miracid) that you can use in the spring. I probably wouldn't fertilize just now. Wait 6 weeks or so.

You could also add ironite, which can help with chlorosis (yellowing). here again.. in the spring.

Any form of decaying vegetation will have some acid from letting it rot.I have a compost area for my farming operation. when composting vegetation I will put lime in the mixture to sweeten the finished compost.
