Not necessarily. Some children with a milk protein allergy can have a small amount of it (just can't tolerate the large amount in typical formulas). You should clear it with your pediatrician first, but one serving of yogurt or cheese daily shouldn't be a problem.

If you find that he cannot tolerate milk based yogurt they do make soy yogurts...here is the link:

This website lists many soy products available:

For a typical meal you can try something like this:
Shredded chicken
Soy cheese
Diced Peaches

or

Fish sticks (super easy finger food for that age)
Soy yogurt
Canned green beans

Good luck to you

I'm sorry for your little boy. I also have to avoid milk in things...and EVERYTHING seems to have milk in it. You will need to spend a lot of time reading ingredient lists on labels. Once you find several things that work for him then it's a lot easier because you can just buy those things over and over. In the ingredient list look for milk, lactose, whey, casien, butter, milk fat, yogurt, buttermilk... We have to cook at home a lot because everything at restaruants has milk in the ingredient lists. We do a lot of spaghetti and 1 meat, 1 vegetable, and 1 starch type meals. In the Pilsbury bakable bread line the french loaf, breadsticks, and crescent rolls don't have any milk. Kroger and Walmart both have generic brand bakable biscuits that don't have milk. Smart Balance has a buttery spread made with flax oil that is milk free and tastes just like butter. Many of the soy and rice milk, cheese, ice cream, and butter still have milk ingredients in it...usually casien (which is the milk protein). Good luck! I promise it get easier the longer you do it.

yes, there is just about anything you can think of that is soy milk.
What you have to do is go to the bigger grocery stores and they put it in the produce section and the ice boxes. So look the store over and ask someone. I have a milk problem and drink soy milk.
Found everything from artificial meat to cheese to well just about everything. Be careful though some use egg whites.
Is he allergic to egg white?

he should be alright as long as you stay away from dairy. I know there are some soy substitutes out there such as soy ice cream. I don't know why you would have to stay away from egg yolks though. As far as i know there are no milk protiens is eggs. your doctor would be able to tell you more.

When my son quit eating baby food i started feeding him pastas, vegetables (cut up into little pieces), and other little things. As far as snacks you can get those little cups of applesauce or cut up fruits (peaches, pears, etc.). Depending on whether he has any teeth yet you can probably feed him some cheeto puffs or animal crackers just break them up into smaller pieces. That's just kind of what i did for my son. I try to feed him a variety of foods.

How about tofu? Eggs don't have the same protein as milk, so they should be okay.
