I love how people have attacked you as being selfish, anti-American, and question your ability to live in a civilization. Even worse Preacher went so far as to tell you your tax dollars do not belong to you, but to the common collective.

Wow!! What a huge collection of misinformation and socialist nonsense.

First, I have to correct the most egregious statement of all made by Preacher, how your tax dollars do not belong to you. The money you pay in taxes does belong to you, you earned it not the government. Most of the tax increases of the last 100 years have been implemented by the Federal government to pay for social programs that violate the US Constitution's 10th amendment. The whole reason for the creation of the United States was for people to have self determination. Meaning that you can live your life without fear of the government taking away your freedom, and anyone willing to work hard can become successful and wealthy. When ever the government imposes new taxes on its citizens it is taking freedom away from them, the freedom of the pursuit of happiness to quote Thomas Jefferson. The less money you have the fewer pursuits you can endeavor upon.

How is what these people believe any better than feudalism? Under feudalism, the people are forced to pay most of their hard-earned incomes to fund rich nobles' lavish lifestyles. With a government liberals want, the people are force to pay most of their hard-earned income to fund the government's pet projects and to fund people who do not want to work.

The shallow argument that those people, who do not want social programs that support "poor people's" children, are somehow selfish, anti-American, or uncivilized could not be more wrong. This is not the government's domain. When the government creates any new program, the inherent waste and huge overhead that comes with anything the government administers get created as well. Less than 50% of money allocated for government agencies that administer social programs actual goes to the people in need. A good charity has between 80%-90% of revenue collected going directly to the needy.

A better option would be to abolish these social programs and allow charities to administer them. If a particular charity becomes wasteful or does not do its job correctly, then people could choose not the contribute to that particular charity. However, people cannot choose to not pay taxes that support wasteful government agencies. Don't forget the US is the most generous country on earth, if the tax rate were lower people would contribute even more to charities.

Bottom line, if you cannot afford to pay for a child, then you should not have that child. Having children if not an inalienable right. I would love to have a Lamborghini, but I cannot afford one. Can I also make demands of fellow citizens to pay for something I otherwise would not be able to afford? If I really want a Lamborghini, I should work harder so I can afford such a thing. Likewise, if people really want children they should work harder so they will have enough money to afford them.

And please do not tell me that having children and buying a Lamborghini are not the same thing. They are, both are not required to survive on this earth.

So they can break out of the problems they are going through and save you some tax money. If the parent didn't go to work and stayed home it would cost you much more. Believe me they are not living it up on your dime , have a little compassion. Your just an accident or illness away from a similar situation yourself so think about that.
So would go your savings and retirement funds if this happens , I however hope it doesn't happen but it could and you would be in trouble then.

Why does a childless person's tax dollars go to the schools? Why does a person who doesn't drive or rarely leave their house pay for the upkeep of roads and highways? Why does a portion of my tax dollars go to after school programs designed to keep kids off the streets when mine are grown? I could go on and on. We ALL pay taxes for things that have no connection to our own lives. It's part of being a citizen in our governmental system. We can protest but it's like beating your head against a wall. I've often asked why I have to pay taxes to support drug addicts in government programs? I didn't put that needle in their arm.

Here's the answers we never want to hear though....
If those kids go to daycare, instead of being left home alone, or going to a neighbor who might abuse them, they might be better adults in the future as a result - better adults means less crime. If I pay taxes for my local school, those kids are getting a better education and they are the ones who are going to be running this country in a few short years - that has a direct impact on me and you. If I pay to keep the streets in good shape or pay for new ones, even though I don't drive - that ambulance that is coming for me when I have a heart attack might have a more direct route to my home and those five extra minutes just might save my life.

How many children and grandchildren do you have? I have NO grandchildren. Who will take care of all the old people here if new people are not brought in? Society must go on with new blood, it is a new era, we will have to accept that and do the best we can. The immigrants can be functional if they become adapted and assimilated into our society - we otherwise may have the same problem France does with it's second-generation immigrants.

[sarcasm] Well well well well well well well, it seems we have yet another evil capitalist scumbag voicing his racially motivated hate speech...[/sarcasm] Well dude, this is THE mother of age old questions that people have been asking themselves AND the government alike since the dawn of man. The simple truth of the matter is that some people are raised under a doctorine of "entitlement", they believe that just because they exist, they then deserve a free pass. Granted, I'm THE most politically conservative guy on the fact of the planet, but I do know the difference between right and wrong. The truth of the matter is that you really cannot place the blame on the people who the are a drain on the economy, the blame falls mostly at the doorstep of our "omniscient" governemnt, who in its infinite wisdom inadvertantly created an entire generation welfare-drawers with absolutely no conscience nor a sense of responsibility. The blame is with the government, plane and simple. Once this came to their realization, each politically leaning took a different. The hardcore liberals said "Ok, so lets just go ahead a create a socialist system, what the hell, we're half-way there" while the hardcore right went with "F**/ it all, lets cut it all off!", neither of them got it right. So until our government collapses under the weight of its sh*-storm, you and I and every other average guy is stuck with the bill.... Aren't politics fun?!?!?!

it has been proved that children are more prepared for school, have better social skills and rate at a higher IQ if they have been in a pre-school/day care program.. so we should do everything we can to help raise our future above ourselves... also.. without the day care or pre-school one of the parents wouldn't be able to work... so then they would most likely (seeing as how they are already needing help) be on the welfare system... it seems to me that allowing the parents to work and prepping the children in a way that makes them more productive and give back more to society in the long run is a good idea.. in other words try not to think about today.. try to think of the long term investment.

For the same reason that everyone pays for public schools, even those who never have children, or the upkeep of roads, even those who don't drive, or for the cost of the fire department equipment even though they have never had a fire in their home.
You live in a community and taxes go to support the community.
Young and old, rich and poor.

Why should my taxes go to pay for your health care when you're old -- I don't care about you.
Why should my taxes go to pay for roads in your state? You don't live in my state, I don't care about your roads.
Why should my taxes go to pay for your college education? Or your small business loan? Or your earned-income credit? Or your stint in the military, and the benefits after you leave?

Perhaps because we're all in this together?
Perhaps because when any of us are more educated, safe, and healthy we're ALL better off?

I agree, I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant and am going to pay for my own daycare. I can't afford it either but I'll make it work. I hate people who use the system. If you really need it then fine but so many don't and are stealing from those who do.♥

The things you decry you may need before you die.If a poor person receives daycare assistance then they are working or attending school. If we give them this hand up they may one day be donors and not recipients.
