Denver is about 275 miles north of Santa Fe, NM, but it is about 780 miles west of St. Louis. About 500 miles west of St. Louis puts you in the nw part of Kansas - basically near Trego-Wakeeney.
NOTE: This puts you very near Lebanon, KS (north central Kansas) which is the geographic center of the 48 continguous United States. Lebanon, KS is about 120 miles by highway, but only about 85 miles "as the crow flies" (i.e., straight across the countryside) northeast of Wakeeney.
