I use to have the same problem. Here are a couple tips that will help you out.

1. I changed deodorant - sometimes your deodorant can irritate skin that has just been shaved. I use Secret Platinum, the one that uses Oil of Olay.

2. Use a new razor each time you shave your armpits. If you use an old razor it will cause you to go over the same area several times to get all the hair. The more you go over an area the more irritated it will become. Also make sure to reapply a small amount of soap or shaving creme or gel between each stroke of the razor.

3. Armpit hair grows in all directions. It's not like leg hair which all grows downward. So in order to get all the hair shave from all directions. I go down with the razor once, up with it once, and then once from side to side. So i only use 4 strokes to remove all the hair and there is less irritation.

4. After you have completed shaving the area, to help prevent the small red bumps you can use this tip. Put 2 or 3 asprin in the palm of your hand (must be asprin, tylenol or other pain relievers won't work.) Add a few drops of water and dissolve the asprin into a thin paste. Rub the paste over the area you just shaved. Leave for a few seconds then rinse it away. Asprin is an anti-inflammatory which will prevent the skin from getting the little red bumps. I also use this for shaving the bikini area. Works like a charm!!

Try these tips and let me know how it works out for you.

It sounds like you're using a bad razor. Try getting a gillette razor for women, and replace the razor head every two months or so at least. Lather on a creamy body wash instead of soap to shave. Also, you could tey shaving in the direction the hair grows, and not against it...this could minimize the bumps and irritation. Also, maybe your deodorant is to blame for the irritation in your armpits...it may contain a chemical you're allergic to or one that irrritates yoru skin, so if all the aforementioned advice doesn't hel the situation, try changing your deodorant (secret unscented is good for sensitive skin). You may be using a razor that has been clogged up with old hair or may be it has lost its sharpness, because shaving with a clogged up, dull razor can make it difficult since you'd have to go over a few times the same patch of hair to shave it off. Also, you can try applying cocoa butter lotion under your arm pits, but not right after shaving....it will make the skin smoother.

What type of a razor are you using? Are you using a NEW blade? Are you using any shaving creme? You could be allergic to the shaving creme.
If your skin is so sensitive that a razor creates a rash, most likely Nair will make it worse. If you should decide to use Nair... make sure it is the version for sensitive skin, an allergic reaction is NOT fun!
Waxing can also cause rashes.. That is a call you would need to ask a waxing specialist... Make sure you let them know how sensitive your skin is.
If money is not an object.. Lazar removal is totally safe & permanent. :)

Are you getting your underarms wet enough and putting enough soap or shaving cream on them before you shave them? It almost sounds like a dry shaving problem.
Anyway you sure want your skin soaked well and soapy or covered in shaving cream before applying a razor to it. Also, try using a brand new razor that is still sharp.
I have tried the wax before. It works. Hurts like crazy, but works. If you use the wax, put some baby powder on before you do it to keep it from sticking to the skin.
Good luck!

THIS IS A PROBLEM SELDOM TALKED ABOUT

You probably have a sensitive skin issue. Nair could possibly cause you to break out.. So if you choose to go that route then just try a small area first.

I understand the "bumps" part. Try a mans shaving cream that is for sensitive skin.

Try an electric razor but use the mens "stuff" (? for name) that you use prior to shaving with an electric razor. It helps it glide over your skin surface smoother.

Hope this helps some
GOOD LUCK ON THIS ONE...

It sounds like you have sensitive skin. I think the best solution for you is radiation hair removal therapy. That way you won't have to shave and that will allow that skin to heal. Presently, you are in a "catch 22" or "double edged sword kind of a situation. You skin in the armpit region might be infected from shaving it or even the hair follicles. But if you don't shave it, it will not look appealing to guys.

Hair removal surgery is the best way to go. This surgery can be used on other areas where you don't want hair also like the face, ears, chest, and even legs.

Make sure your razor is sharp and new. Use lots of shaving gel to lubricate the area. Do not put on deoderant right away, let your skin relax first. Make sure you use warm/hot water, and give the moisture a chance to permeate your skin before shaving. But a sharp razor is key!

Armpit hair disgusts me in my opinion, yet I do understand that it, like each and every hair is there to decrease down on order, germs and so on. that's why I purely shave as quickly as an afternoon rather of obsessively.

Do you have a lot of hair growth? You could pluck your hairs if you don't have too many. Or, maybe wax? Are you using a sharp razor? Maybe the razor that you've been using is too dull.

Nair works good. Waxing I don't know about that. Do you have sensitive skin? Call your doctor's office and ask a nurse.
