When I first came to the U.S, I was a foreign student. Then my visa was expired, and I was out of the immigration status(overstayed). Then I applied the political asylum, and I was granted as an asylee in the U.S.

You should consider yourself a guest of America until you actually apply for and are granted citizenship........my two cents : )

Two things
- Do you have an american passport
- Do you pay american taxes
