Although Celine Dion irritates me, I would suggest seeing her show over Elton John's. Why?
Reason 1:
Because supposedly this will be the last year she will be performing in Vegas.
Reason 2:
Celine Dion mentioned that she might try to have another child (which means she may not be performing again any time soon after her Vegas show ends).
Reason 3:
Those who have seen Celine's performance have all given it rave reviews.

I prefer Elton John, BUT, Celine Dion's show will close in Vegas some time this year, so you may want to see her in this setting before she leaves. It's my understanding that Elton John has a long term commitment, so you'd have a longer time frame to see him perform there.

I love Vegas- have a good time there for all of us! I would see Elton- he's more entertaining and funny. Certainly Celine has a better voice, but you can buy a CD for that. You're going for the live show and the extras that you don't get on a recording.
Also, if you get the chance, see Barry Manilow and the Blue Man Group. Both are a lot of fun!

Typically I would suggest that if you are a homo loving connoisseur of outlandish bright suits then the Elton John show would probably be best suited to you. However, if you are just homo who wears outlandishly bright suits and loves strange Canadian performers that cannot get a gig anywhere other than Vegas, maybe you should check out Celine.
My personal suggestion, would be to go for the dirty heterosexual option of visiting the Circe Du Soleil show that is performed entirely in the nude at New York New York. The show Zumanity is both titillating and captivating and well worth the fee, which at the end of the day, is really only a third of the cost of the aforementioned performers.

Elton John, definately. He's a more exciting entertainer, and I think Celine Dion's songs all sound the same.
