I am signing up for web hosting and I dont know what this means...does it mean I can only have one email address?
any information would be appreciated

These are both protocols for sending and receiving email. check out the link:

That information alone will not tell you how many email addresses you have; its simply telling you what protocol they use to send mail.

Web hosting is more a different thing than POP/IMAP.

POP is Post office Protocol. used for receiving mails using programs like Outlook Express, etc.

and IMAP is also the same thing but little more advanced than POP, it downloads the mail faster than POP on your system.

and web hosting is pay to get a domain name and create multiple e-mail addresses and provide e-mail services to others.
