Will power, it is hard and even if you quit for years it is easy to start up again. It is a nervous habit. I speak from experience.

Ha Ha....I hear you sister. Same problem for the whole 25 years of my life. I have tried every product on the market to stop the 'ole chewing problem and none of them worked. I myself decided to use fingernail polish remover (non-acetone) and continuously put it on my nails, that stuff is sooo gross that you would rather throw yourself in front of a bus then to chew away. 6 months chew free here. After time the urge goes away, about 2 weeks. Get the remover that you dip your digits into, way easier and handy at all times.

Get yourself a series of manicures. When you go to bite your nails you will see your nicely polished fingertips and you hopefully, will think before you bite. When the polish starts to come off, go back to the salon and get them redone. Don't let the chips in the polish entice you to bite your nails. Also, people may suggest that you put bitter stuff on your fingertips... that may work, but if you are washing your hands as much as you should, it will keep coming off and you'll have to reapply, right? (I'm not sure - I've not tried that stuff).

I just stopped 2 weeks ago! I eat a lot of gum, put bad tasting stop nails on them to make them taste bitter & wear gloves at home sometimes if I know I will bite them. I put it in my mind set I don't need to anymore.

The way you can stop is in three ways.
1:when you have an urge to bite, you can sit on your hands.
2:when your talking or something like that and you have an urge to bite then, just wave your hands in the air all crazy and stuff.
3:also, when your nervous and really want to bite, sit your hands in your lap.
Thats the best I can tell you.
Good Luck!
