if its below 150bpm its a boy,above its a girl.it could be anything from 110bpm to 200bpm.i've had 2 boys and 2 girls and this theory has worked everytime for me,and for my mum,sister/in law,aunts etc.

Every baby is different and each minute it will be different.
The average for a term pregnancy is between 110 beats per minute (BPM) and 160 BPM. If the baseline is above 160 BPM this is called a baseline tachycardia. When it is below 110 BPM it is called a baseline bradycardia. Premature babies can be slightly higher than 160 BPM.

I hope this helps, if there was any concerns the midwife would have sent you to the hospital for a CTG trace of baby's heart rate.

I had a pscho doctor telling me my baby was dying when his heart rate slowed to 120. What really helps is a non-stress test, when the baby moves, kicks, whatever his heart rate should increase rapidly. That shows that its healthy and functioning well. I think the average is between 135-160.

Boys heart beats are 120 - 140 and girls are 140 - 160. This is how I knew whenI was monitered during labour what I was having - It was correct on all 3 accounts.

I opted to not have him tell me each time. I did not want to obsess about if it was good enough. He would just say things looked good.
