This is going to sound a bit crazy.. but about 13/14 years ago I read a couple of sci-fi/action books involving the following: a protagonist who was a doctor of some description with a sidekick, fighting some coven of witches/bad guys, I remember scenes set around stonehenge, ping pong ball explosives and after they got wounded there some sort of spray they used to heal themselves. Fairly sure english author but not sure. Well there's a random one for you!. Good luck and thanks!

Was he a Scottish Lord or something also? The Black coven guys were all involved in Hitler's black art stuff?

I think there's a whole series and it's called "The Adept" by Katherine Kurtz and Deborah Harris.

If it isn't the right books you'll probably enjoy this series anyway!
