The French do not hate Americans and intelligent Americans do no hate the french. Trust me, I have been all over french speaking countries and I have lived in Québec. Nobody I have ever spoken to from other countries (including non-french countries) even has any idea about this whole Americans hating French thing and vice versa. It appears to be very one-sided, with just narrow-minded Americans who don't realize there's life outside the U.S. hating the French.
For those Americans who have visited France and said the people were rude, I'm willing to bet you didn't take the time to learn a few french greetings and survival phrases. I'd also be rude if someone came to the U.S. and EXPECTED me to know any other language than english.
The whole french "rude" thing is childish and needs to go away. Hate is not good folks.
Also, I'd like to thank France for saving the U.S. from King George of England. This was BEFORE WWII by the way.

La France c'est un beau pays. N'est pas? I do love it, love it and love it. The people is so fantastic. Incredibly rich in culture and architecture. I visited Lyon, Paris, Callais, and some small towns near Andorra.
