in this case, the person I'm referring to is painfully earnest, extremely self absorbed and deluded. the sarcasm is definitely only flowing in one direction

All the time. My boss is Canadian, and we're constantly making fun of him because of it. No good reason. Just because we're ****** americans. So over a few weeks back when everyone was wishing each other Merry Christmas and the like, I looked at him and said "Happy Boxing Day". He didn't get it, and thanked me, but everyone else did.

Here's the thing...people try to burn me all the time, and the trick is-I KNOW IT! and the thing is they hate it when you laugh and say"Oh wow! Thank you so much!" when they have no idea that you are really laughing at them to their face. Then, I compliment myself on the inside, and give myself an imaginary pat on the back for laughing at a idiot. Keep it real.
