Excited. Not scared--it's almost certain that any alien visitors would not be hostile. That's not wishful thinking. It's a practical necessity--any civilization with the kind of power to cross interstellar space will have learned to live in peace--or they wiould have destroyed themselves.
The really fascinating thing to me (as a historian/social scientist) would be studying their history and culture--seeing how it compared to our own. I suspect that new frame of reference would teache us as much about ourselves as we learned about them.
Puls, it would be really fun to watch all the creationist fundies having the snit fit to end all snit fits while they tried to explain that away! :)

well i prefer 2 call them celestial beings i think i am one you can be one and not know it how you can tell is if you have a long mark in your hand right below your fingers and if you have felt important all your life people have always told me i was the chosen one my mom says that i am not hers i dont look like my family i think i am from the sirius star system earth will eventually be there because it is being magnitized right now but not 2 worry it is a peaceful place

it is only natural to feel fearful and curious well. I think a mass panic could easily occur and that's why contact with extratrerrestials is being kept secret. You don't really think all the technology you see in best buy and radio shack was developed soley by us.

Depends if they were hostile, neutral, or benefactors.
It would be very cool though (if they werent hostile)
And maybe it would give a reason for humanity to act as one instead of trying to kill eachother all the time. We need an outside threat to get our crap together I am afraid.

well it wouldnt really matter because the american goverment would call anyoe who saw the aliens deluded and would have the aliens killed in a couple of hours

depends what kind of aliens......if they were nice and friendly and hepful...happy, but if they were scary thats a different story.

If they were peaceful, I would be thrilled. the chance to learn of a non-human language, philosophy, biology, science, etc... would be amazing.
