The kind of line you are talking about has 10 total syllables. The stress is usually on every other one.

Da duh, da duh da duh da duh da duh,
with da being unstressed and duh being stressed.

Now to write lines like that you can string a set of words together:

My garden shed calls me from down the path,
I long, I long to rush to sow some seeds,
But wait, the washing's in the tub and baby cries.
My shed must wait, I'll see to baby's needs.

Cooooeeeeee. Did you see that?? In 3 minutes too!! Well done me!

So you have a stress mark over each second syllable.

Now if you use this poem, you will have to give credit to another person - ME, and admit that you had help. Only fair now!

I believe that an iamb is two syllables, and what makes it pentameter is that there are five of the per line. Therefore I think your example actually reads

a HORSE, a HORSE, my KINGdom FOR a HORSE (Richard III)

At the very least make sure all of your lines contain ten syllables
