Squatting will not affect the baby. I had to squat at work the whole 9 months and nothing happened. I will tell you that as your belly gets bigger, it will be A LOT harder to get back up. Also, anytime you are unsure about something, you should call your prenatal doc.

Actually, squatting might become your new favorite activity! As you get bigger and have a hard time bending, you'll squat all the time!
Almost every creature on earth is in this position during birth. Just think about it...it makes the birth canal shorter and give the baby more direct access to the outside world, plus your friend gravity will help get that baby out! Back in the fifties when most births started happening in hospitals instead of at home, doctors would make a woman lay down...ouch! That position makes the baby lay on your spine, and it's head gets stuck below the vaginal opening - this is why so many babies had to literally be pulled out by forceps!
The bradley method of childbirth has been around for over fifty years, and he is a major advocate for squatting. You can read his book or take a class in your area. He suggests that you practice squatting all day as much as you can!

actually squatting is great for pregnant women. as long as you are healthy, it helps to open the hips, and many women squat during (natural) labor. it's great!

It doesn't affect the baby this young... however if you have a low-lying placenta in your third trimester, is may induce bleeding. Besides it's very difficult to get back up especially when your tummy is heavy and your legs are weak.
cheers!

No squatting is an old wives' tale. It's supposed to hinder the tightening of Kegals. If you're worried, talk to your doctor.
