How do i make my grass bright green and thick?

I just moved into my home in florida and the grass is in pretty good shape but there are other people in my neighborhood whose grass is unbealiably bright green and thick looking. I have begun my sprinkler system on a 3 day basis but i was wondering if there is some special seeds and fertlizers to make it look like that. Thanks in advance for all your help

Hi.. the grass IS always greener, isn't it?

Your neighbors probably have Zoyzia or Centipede grass. it is VERY thick growing and has good color. It's a creeping turfgrass, so it takes a little time to establish, but once it's established, it takes over.

The neighbors are probably putting down a lot of fertilizer, too. Grass needs a certain amount of water, sunshine, and food. I would suggest getting a soil sample from your lawn analyzed and go from there. A good garden center can tell you where to get your soil tested and can counsel you on amendments and fertilizers to make your grass as good as your neighbors.. or better!

Do you know what type of grass you have? That plays a big part in Florida. Other thing, make sure you water in the AM not PM as PM watering can cause mildew and mold to grow in the lawn (BAD!!). Also, go online and order ground tobacco stalks. Put this on your lawn all over (use a spreader). This will boost the thickness and color immensely.

My husband and I have discovered a miracle! It's called Monty's joy juice. We started with an empty area last year, no grass or plants or trees, at the end of the summer it looked like something from a gardening magazine!!!!!!! You want green load the grass with fertilizer with a high first number as in 30-2-0. the first number is nitrogen and that will make the grass green up it also will cause it to grow fast and you will be mowing three days a week but the garss will be greener.

U can get weed and feed in the bottle that hooks up directly to the hose. and spray to fertilize. Then you can get turf builder for thickness.
