I was able to break my lease two months into it. I spoke with the manager and let them know I was buying a house and needed to leave, I couldn't continue my lease. She told me to let her know 30 days ahead of time and I will be able to receive my deposit (as long as the apartment was clean, of course). It worked out great.

In most leases, they could hold you responsible for the entire two year rental amount just for breaking the lease. I would start with reading your lease from front to back and look at the small print. It may say you can break your lease with some kind of notice but most rental companies (especially in a large city) will hold you to the term of your agreement. A good alternative is to find someone to sublease the apartment for you until your lease is up. If you break your lease without permission, it may ruin your credit. Hope this helps.

if you signed a contract for 2 yr lease then you will most likely loose ur deposit, although if you get on well with the landlord he may give it back to you, you could also find someone to take over the apartment from you, get them to give you the deposit and when they leave the landlord could give it to them?

You can talk to your landlord, but considering you signed a contract that MOST LIKELY says that the deposit is non refundable if there is damage, you move out early, etc, it is unlikely.
You can ask anyways... no point in not trying.

depends on the contract, but most likely. My contract says if i leave early i have to pay a one months fee and lose the deposit. mine is only 1 year though. read your contract, its definately in there.

Read your rental contract. It will specify what your rights are that you agreed to when you signed it.
