well I have this file, it was literely an empty txt file that I renamed to .exe, I accidently ran it, and now I cant delete it becuase it says its in use, it doesnt show up in processes or in msconfig, does anyone know any other way I can try to get rid of it?

I tried the safemode thing, it didnt work, still said it was in use, but that program that inoa05 suggested its called Unlocker, it worked great! thanks

reboot your computer to kill the bogus .exe process. Then delete it

Why did you rename an empty text file to .exe? The system thinks that's an executable file and it won't let you delete it. It won't show up anywhere because it really isn't an executable, so you can't find it in msconfig because it isn't part of Microsoft configuration, and it isn't a running process, so it won't show up in Task Manager. If you are really determined to get rid of it, rename it back to something like stuff.txt, then maybe you can delete it. Then don't rename something else to .exe.

You possible have renamed a system temporary file. OK, You have to get into safe mode nad then just delete the File.

Simple and its gone

use a program called unlocker. search "unlocker" in google and its the first link. its free aswell

I see that the Plez has already been here and laid the "key" on you -----you reboot that sucker and pull the plug on it as soon as the system settles in from the restart !!

you can run the computer in safe mode (press F5 when it's starting up) and then delete it.
