Win the Lottery, Premium Bonds or Euromillions.
Win "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" - at least this would be tax-free and all yours - most other methods would mean you having to make far more than a million to cover the tax bill!!
Enter a Poker tourament.
Bet £10 on a 100,000 to 1 shot at the racetrack
Become a famous actor or footballer
Start your own religion (the church is never short of a quid or two)
Invent your own diet, sell books, dvds, etc.
Invent the next big thing - some kind of craze like a Rubik's cube.
Step in front of a bus, survive, and hopefully sue for £1million. Sure, you'll be a useless gibbering vegetable, but you'll be a RICH gibbering vegetable!
Sell a kidney. I'm not sure if this is legal or not though.
Become an escort / lap dancer (if female - excellent earning opportunities here for women especially), and lap-dancing at least is a profession and not illegal. It pays well too, especially tips!
Property developing. You'd need some cash up front to start though, and probably longer than a year to get your £1million. Watch BBC1 in a morning ('Homes Under the Hammer') and get some ideas.
Do a "Indecent Proposal" thing and sell your partner to a rich businessman for the million. It might ruin your marriage, bu hey, I don't think it is illegal!

by moving to the antartica (or another planet not including the moon or mars), and set up your own country by living there for over 10 years, then create your own currency and name it as £'s then giv urself £1,000,000 and share out other money with whales, polar bears and penguins, to balance the economy. then send me lots.
afterwards u could check your country for any oil supplies and sell it to the higest bidder. or create a massive factory/robotic army using the oil or money. and created by your faithfull penguins.
and take over the world!!!!! and give me europe.

I work for a large bank so I will tell you that the highest earners are real-estate flippers and CEOs. You won't hit CEO in one year so buy, fix, and sell real estate is best option.
