You remember that San Diego picked Manning and he whined and refuse to take the choice and cause the draft to go in a tailspin until the switch was made with the New York Giants. Russell is Al Davis type of guy big and strong QB not Brady Quinn but it will be a dog race between these two as ND press machine kicks in and LSU sputters. Write what you think?

Russell will go to the Raiders. Quinn?...who cares....his NFL career will be short lived anyway. I see Quinn as the typical over-hyped, over-rated college QB whose limited skills will not carry over into the NFL game.

The only way the NFL can avoid an Eli (prior Elway) demand is if the player does not want to go to the team then the team they go to is restricted on what they can offer the person and that the player be made to stay an extra year or two on that team with no possible trade. Don't know the specifics but this would make the teams involved and player weigh their options.

Press machine aside, Russell or Quinn, Raider nation is in Dissarray! How can an offensive line run by a hall of famer (Jackie Slater) and coached by a hall of famer (Art Shell) be so bad as to let their qb be punished. See if Oaktown can draft "Touchdown Jesus" from the might Notre Dame! Is alex smith or matt leinert any worse of a qb then russell or quin?

The best thing that could happen is that Davis trades the pick or goes after a position other than QB, otherwise a career will be ruined or damaged either way. If Quinn gets selected #1 he could go the way of Rick Mirer pretty quickly. Russell has a better chance in Oakland because of his physical gifts, but remember that the Oakland offense was downright offensive last year and if Davis hires another retread coach things won't get better. I expect a low level of enthusiasm form whichever QB is picked by the Raiders. The best scenario for all is a trade.

You are mixing apples with oranges. Russell or Quinn have not stated that they would not play for Oakland if drafted. Also, remember that the Giants gave up way too much to trade for Manning. So, there is no controversy.
As far as who is the better quarterback, Quinn has a better command of the game concerning reading defenses. However, Russell has the best arm and can throw the ball practically the length of the field which would fit in with the Raiders of old. Russell is more of a work in progress though when compared to Quinn. But the pros have to like his 6'6" frame and 260 lbs to go with it.

If the Raiders take Russell then they take Russell over Quinn. which I think is a big mistake. The Raiders need help NOW not down the line and Quinn has had 2 outstanding years and Notre Dame, where as Russell has just had the one good year at LSU. I don't doubt that Russell will be a hell of a good ball player but the Raiders are in such bad shape that taking someone that isn't proven would be worthless.

No. we will by no skill see a bust as undesirable as Jamarcus Russell ever again because Al Davis is useless and different agencies enable the scouts who've actual intelligence to guage draft options. Russell regarded dodgy in college. the nearest we will see to a tremendous bust this 12 months is Brandon Weeden, and on account that its the Browns, and he's like 30, he will be lengthy previous quickly and no one will care. BQ: Cam Newton. Mark Sanchez will be out of the league in about 2 years time, RG3 performs in Washington and success has a nasty offensive line and shoddy wideout corps. A mix of a second and fifth round tight end wont sparkling up that.

To me this really doesn't seem to fit the bill. Russell doesn't seem like the guy to whine because he doens't want to be on the Raiders (Though Davis has never taken a QB first round, so I doubt they'll do that --despite REALLY needing to). Brady Quinn does though. However if Raiders do go QB, I agree they'd take JR over Quinn, who would probably be taken by DET. Some source (tho few) saw they (OAK) MIGHT taken Calvin Johnson, though I'm praying he drops to the Vikings @ spot 7 (which is reasonable because everyone inbetween has what could be considered a "franchise WR" (Braylon Edwards/K2 CLE, Joey Galloway TB, Boldin/Fitz AZ, Moss WAS) ---tho Galloway is old so they might snag him)

Eli Manning said, before the draft, he wouldn't play for San Diego. But to my knowledge, neither Russell or Quinn have made any similar statements.

Quinn has never won the big game! He puts up good numbers throughout the year, but always chokes in the big ones. ND plays a soft schedule inlcuding every service academy.

I don't put much value in the LSU qb's achievements either, but I only watched LSU a couple of times this year.
