Well, the obvious reason is that democrats who echo socialist ideology do not share all of socialists ideas. One poltiical party can endorse the same policies as another, but not be the exact same. For instance, the Demos and Repubs share many views, but they are not treated as being the same - so why treat Socailists and Demos as the same groupping? Socialists are left wing in all of their political thinking - while Demos are not (many are centre). This is why Demos cannot be regarded as Socialists.

[For that matter alone, you can claim the Repubs as being Socialists since they echo a few of the Socialists ideas too...]

because those gentle "socialists" are desperately suffering hostile to the ostracism that the leaders of the Democratic party were dealing out to them for years, when you consider that each and each and every of the previously contained in the days at the same time as they were called "DESOC" and "SDUSA." that's a doomed warfare. there is not any position even for his or her kind of pretend socialism in a huge company party like the Democrats or the Republicans. they ought to offer up on the misnamed "Democratic socialism" and basically be Marxists, already. .

socialism is a pretty broad subject. a lot of people with completely conflicting ideologies might share similarities with socialists, especially if they are claiming to support the lower middle class working men of the world.

Stop saying socialist like its a bad word. Its an ideology, like any other... it is pretty unpatriotic if you ask me. Keep in mind just about anyone in any ideology believes what they do because they think it is best. Unfortunately an effective media campaign against leftist ideologies has resulted in words such as liberal and socialist becoming on par with profanity... its sad.
