Beckham is 32, in 5 years he’ll be 37. He has a 5 year 250 million dollar deal. How can they pay such an old athlete so much? I’m not an expert in soccer, but I know he’s not even that good of player. I would understand paying that much a younger player, who has a better record. He’s old, why pay him as much?

I think, he is more like a walking marketing strategy. everybody wants shirts with his name on them. He is not a good player, maybe age is starting to show up on him. He is famous more for being a metro sexual than for his skills.

its not even about him being a soccer player. You are right, he is an older athlete but he did used to be one of the best outside midfielders in the world about 5 years ago. His legendary service ball which bends back to his teammates is what made him popular on the field, his status as Englands pop king is also the reason for so much money. Believe it or not he will attract many more fans to the statium and stir up a mediocre league. He is in hollywood now and you'll be seeing his face on the cover of magazine as much as you see lindsay lohen. There are other players receiving offers to come to the US to play. People love America, im sure i would leave my country for almost a million a year too.

Becos Beckham has proven himself to all that he is worth USD 250millions.....
Who cares if he is young or old, as long as people around the world is willing to buy tickets to watch him play in the field.
I feel that he is more like a superstar then a soccer player. Everybody agreed?

There is one thing i know for sure. No matter what the age maybe, If there is strength, things can be done better. If he's got the energy, he will do better than when he was young; however, he is not that old. About the money, no comments,...no regret for LA Galaxy. It's his money. LA will take it out of him.

I believe they are paying him that money to bring poplularity to soccer in the US. I don't agree with the money they are paying him. He will make more than the combined salaries of all professional soccer players in the US.

Why did they pay so much? They managed to buy his image rights as part of the deal.

Will it ruin football in the US as when Pele came in the 70's? We'll have to wait and see.
