I have always gotten them something to eat, more then they could ask for. If they are at a corner & I'm in the car, then I will give them a few $'s and a message of hope.

There really shouldn't be anyone begging on the street for food. Churches, social, and government organizations will be more than happy to provide a meal or clothing. Chances are, if you see someone holding a sign, they are trying to con you for cash. Offer to buy them a meal, rather than giving a monetary amount, and they generally have some reason why they can't leave the corner.

And yes- there ARE people who choose to beg. I know three guys myself who "live" around my neighbourhood. Every day they go down to the local university, and beg for change. They pull in anywhere from 100-300 US dollars (They told me it depended on weather mostly- but exam week was the worst) per day from college kids who probably can't afford to give it away.

I wouldn't mind making 300 bucks a day.

tell them where the local food bank/shelter is.. thats what those facilities are for not me-dont think i a mean i volunteer my time at food banks and know those people get GOOD food there
sometimes better food than i would buy for myself-they do not need to beg!! there is so much funding and ways for them to get back on their feet these facilities provide computer training and basic job skills and clothing some people just choose not to take advantage of the programs!

I knew that they were homeless for a reason other than stupid mistakes that could have been avoided...I'd give them some money...if they were homeless for a stupid reason, I would buy them some food and a blanket.....But you can always tell the ones that are there for reasons that was beyond control...the ones that don't care and want to drink life up or drug life up that is different.....in my oppion.

It depends. I see them all the time where I live. If I'm feeling generous and have a cash on me, I'll give them a few bucks and hope that they will buy necessities like food, water, etc. Other times, I just keep driving and pray for them.

I always give them a few bucks (enough for coffe or whatever) and tell them I will pray for them. Look, no one would CHOOSE to BEG if they didn't have to.

I am fortunate that I can spare a few bucks and offer some compassion. You just never know what these folks have been through in their lives.

I usually go get them some food from the nearest McDonalds and give them a few bucks that they'll probably use on booze or drugs.

I'm pretty sure this has happened to most of us when we've been walking the slum streets of down town. I usually give him a few dollars and if I have extra food, I give it to him to eat.

Depends...I'm not tieing up traffic to stop and give them anything.
Most of the time I just pass on by...I work my @ss off and barely get by myself. I'm on a serious budget, so I have very little to give.
