I am currently trying to make a quilt from wool. However, whenever I put it through the sewing machine, it stretches along the seam and is no longer a square, it's more of a rhombus. How am I supposed to sew it so that it does not stretch like that?

It sounds like the tension on the pressure foot may be too high. Try loosening it. Also, if the seam is big enough, you can try pulling the fabric perpendicular to the sewing direction. Finally, try setting the stitch length longer. With any recommendations you try, use scrap pieces to determine the best settings.

Using quilting foot will help a lot but the best advice is to pin, pin, pin and pin some more. Even if it means pinning every 1/2 inch or so anything to keep the fabric from stretching. It is a bit of a pain but well worth the effort.

I use what is called a walking foot, or a plaid foot, instead of your regular foot, you place it on the machine and it walks the top of your fabric with the dog feed to get things to work together, I also use it with satins for bridal. You can find them on this page
