Yes, some women get what is called Mittelschmerz pain. This is ovulation pain. I had it all the time, but my doc associateed it with my PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome). My ovaries were tougher than most so they would form cysts which in turn would rupture when the egg was actually released. Sometimes it was very unpleasant and other times it was hardly anything at all. I even went to the ER once due to the pain, thought it was appendicitis. Most women however do not know when they are ovulating unless they use the test kits and/or the Basal Body Thermometer.

Yes you are able to. Some women get slight pains in their lower abdomen, at the side/s. Sometimes it feel like I have a bubble in my belly right at the bottom on the day I ovulate and the day after. I don't have that feeling any other time of the month at all. It's really weird. I though it was something else at first but when I tracked it and realised it was at the same time in my cycle each month I realised what it was!
Some people feel nothing though.

Some people, like my mom, have pain on the side they are ovulating from when the egg ruptures from the ovary. I have never felt this so I don't know how to describe it.

I do... every month... I am very sensitive down there!
I aslo have had lots of Cysts on my Ovaries... so I can pin point them. Its not that intense just a small pain when the egg leaves your ovary.
My Dr said its normal... some people do and most dont.

I used to feel a slightly painful twinge when I was younger but dont anymore. Many women also have an increased thick discharge when they are ovulating.

Well you can have period cramping pain and sometimes blood spotting. Just count 14 days from the first day of your last period and you should be ovulating within 12th and 16th day. That is your optimum period for trying to become pregnant.
