Why the denial?

Why are so many people STILL in denial about how bad Iraq is? They come out with slogans like, "fight them over there or fight them on our streets". That is the stupidest slogan. The Iraqi insurrgents aren't going to come over here. Al-Quada is in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Also, one thousand of the troops for the US 'surge' are coming from Afghanistan! How freakin stupid is that!

Wake up people.

I wish people would read the question. I am not advocating any let up on fighting terrorism. My point was about the Iraqi insurgency and taking even more of our troops away from fighting Al-Quieda.

I don't think its denial so much as it is honest belief that saying anything to the contrary will somehow undermine the troops... While I disagree with that idea entirely, its noble in purpose (for the common man, not the wealthy who profit from it) so I wouldn't be so quick to mock them. I agree its sad we have lost focus on Al Qaeda, but I doubt you'll see much of a change in course from this administration.

Obviously you dont see the purpose or the logic behind the slogan, of course the Iraqi nationalist Insurgents couldn't give a rats a** about the United States, or hurting our intrests, but the foreign fighters in Iraq, like Al-Quada, do want to hurt our interests, if they are fighting in Iraq, they have fewer resources to plan attacks in the United States. No one is denying what the situation in Iraq is, but perhaps you are making it out to be worse than it is, believe me it can get a hell of a lot worse, and it just might if we dont calm things down.

Where did you get the idea that 1000 soldiers were coming from Afghanistan to Iraq?

Al-Qaida is NOT just in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It's a world wide franchise.

The fact is, we keep them occupied in the Middle East so they won't have the resources to attack us world wide. There are cells out there but they just don't have the ability to hit us, yet. That may seem like a stupid slogan but it is working.

Good to see our young people are keeping up with the news in Iraq and understand it. They said the same thing about the Vietnam war, that we had to stop them there or they would be in American next. What is not understood is that the Iraq people do not want to be occupied, and they will fight to drive us from their land. I would fight just as hard to stop invaders here in my country, and we are the invaders. I worry about our troops just as much as anyone, but hey they are the invaders in the Iraq eyes.
There were no weapons of mass destruction. Yet you will still hear people say, they struck us first. took a long time but I think people are now starting to question why we are in Iraq.
that money would be better spend on education, health care, housing here in America.
