The seeds germinate, sprouting to 4/5inches and all of them suffer leaf dieback which spreads back eventually to the root. I do not overwater and heat is plentiful in the glasshouse. Should the alkalinity or acidity of the compost make a difference.

The seeds may be "too" wet and getting root rot. Check your local nursery store for root rot medicine.

Also, they may need more sun to keep the germination going and leaf development, try a southwest window for all day sun

place the inspiration down some million inch below the soil. the inspiration will proceed going up and down which motives the sprouted plant to have the seed encasing the leaves. The seed will fall off finally and the plant will improve.

you need to make sure you are using a sterile potting mix to start seeds. otherwise damping-off organisms in the soil will kill the young seedlings. try again, and sterilise everything!, including tools and pots. good luck.
