Does anyone know if it's legal for a private landlord to request 6 months worth of rent in advance in Scotland??

It was stated on the original tenancy agreement, but its pretty imoral, if you ask me and hugely annoying!

As per letting law in the UK if the 'up front' monies were asked for in the contract AND you signed the contract then you are fully liable for this money.

You can ask the landlord to ammend the agreement to something that is fair and equitable to both of you and if you have a proven payment history then he/she must take this into account as part of 'any fair or reasonable agreement.'
