It's strange how somethings that we expect would keep going on stops, or something that was never there comes up. Incidents, thoughts / feelings(joy,grief,regret,passion,anger...anything), people etc...

Don't know if this would be considered a proper question in itself, but may be it's good to express and know that there's someone to hear without being judged. May be i'll test the waters before revealing mine...

Most recently, something hit me like a bombshell. I always was curious about belief systems and religion, but thought I'd never believe in one faith, because I'm too analytical and critical. Also, I felt it was wrong to say one iw right because it implied that all the other faiths were wrong and who am I to condemn the rest of the world? Over the past year, just to satisfy that curiosity, I've been reading a great deal about religion, various faiths and denominations and their history, interpretations and translation debates about the Bible (OT & NT), the Koran, and other works. Fascinating, but not intended as a conversion process.

I was considering this all, and the realization struck me:
a) there was a part of me that was tired of all the analysis and criticism that hungered for faith, and b) admitting that one belief system appealed to me most, logically and ethically, had NOTHING to do with judging other peoples faiths, but was a matter of personally preferring one of many roads to the same destination.

It felt like an invisible surgeon had removed a huge obstacle in my thinking. Or like when you're looking at an optical illusion and it shifts into the other view (like the famous image of a vase/two faces looking at one another). Astonishing how your brain can just change gears like that, and there's no going back unchanged.

Simply put.....The quality of my life is completely up to me. COMPLETELY. Amazing how a shift in attitude or perception that can change a dangerous storm into a beautiful vision of sight and sound. Someone attempts to insult me, whether it hurts depends on me, do I feel sorry for me.....or them. Sort of like the glass half full or empty kind of thing.

My father died in 2000. My mother got remarried in 2006. I am happy for her because it freed me to be able to pursue some dreams I had-I didn't want to leave her in a financial bind. It was so surprising because I never expected to be able to pursue what I wanted.

I completely understand it. Your just sitting somewhere and you realize something you've never realized before. My biggest realization was when I reaized I liked someone who I thought I hated. I was just sitting there and thinking WOW.

What hit me is when a friend of mine died and I didn't actually realize how much she meant me until she actually died. She was always willing to help her friends. She was a true hero.
