They are gay?
Iknow all shows are made up and I'm really not looking for smart-as sed answers.
Just people like Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Houser) is supposed to be a ladies man, when in fact he is the opposite in real life.
I used to think he did a great job on the show, but now I think 'Wow, he is a really good actor" , but I just don't beleive it anymore.

So AGAIN, THE QUESTION IS, DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE BELEIVING THER CHARACTER IF IT IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF THEM. (whatever the circumstance)

Not if they are good at what they do. I see Neil Patrick Harris as a gay dude. I see Barney as a hysterically funny womanizer. I see Eric Mcmorak as a straight man and Will Truman as a very true to life gay man. If peeps are good at they do, they can pull it off.

I believe the acting and the person are separate.

Eg: like you said, Neil Patrick Harris on his current show is a womanizer.
Back on Fraiser, "bulldog" at the station was crass, and aggressive, but in real life he is gay.
On Grey's Anatomy, TR is gay in real life, but dating nurses on the show.
On Will & Grace, Will was gay, but in real life he is straight.

I think, if they are in character, and a good actor, you see them for the role.
In their private life, they can live how ever they wish, it is no ones business but their own.

Speculation by the tabloids of "who is, and who isn't" is just silly.
:-)

I have no problem believing it. The actor who played Bulldog from Frasier is gay but his character was a big time womanizer

I had trouble believing Ann Heche in that movie with Harrison Ford when their plane went down. It also had the guy from friends, David Schwimmer.

Of course, this was when she was still with Ellen D.

Sometimes I just can't believe someone in a role. I can't see Ann Heche as a romantic lead regardless of whether she's playing a lesbian or a straight character becuase I have trouble believing anyone of either gender would want her.

I have trouble buying Warren Beatty as a sex symbol because even when he was young, he wasn't that hot.

But everyone has their own feelings on this. Obviously there are a lot of women that did think he was sexy.
