Not at all. Purple is the best on many darker skin tones. My stepfather, who is Sicilian and has a medium olive complexion, loves to wear purple. That's from the island where the main soccer team's colors are pink and black, two great colors for darker skin. I (a gal) also wear purple because it's good on lighter yellow-olive skin.
