i know i should not have accepted the job right away but when the manager told me, i was caught off guard and immediately said yes!! at first, i thought that was what i wanted but now, i realize it is not.

what should i do?

my parents both told me to go with whichever job makes me happy.. its not that my current job makes me happy but i dont think the new job will make me happy

Definitely notify the new job that the pay and hours aren't exactly what you expected and you have changed your mind about accepting the position. be polite and professional. Thank them for considering you for the job.

You have the right to back out even if you already accepted it. Just note that if you back out there might not be another possibility that you will get hire back in again. Have you told your previous company that you are leaving them for another job? If you haven't then go to the new company and told them that your current company is paying you a little bit more to get you to stay. Ask the new company to match the offer or to increase your pay after a certain time. Understood that they might be paying you a little now to test your skill. Don't leave the old job if they don't counter the offer.

Whatever you do, do it now. The longer you wait, the worse it will be. I would tell the place where you accepted the offer the same thing you just said, that you thought the salary and hours would be more and ask if anything can be changed.

If it has only been a few days, I do not think it will be a problem.

Call the person who hired you at the new job and thank you for offering you the position but you have decided to stay at your present job after all. Continue looking for a job that you'll be happy with emotionally and financially.

No problem...just call your interviewer and tell him/her that after you've given it consideration, their job isn't quite right for you as you would have to take a cut in pay and in hours. Be sure you tell them it's because of the pay and the hours. Who knows, they might up their ante and give you a better offer.

When I was a teenager, I quit a job after ONE DAY. It wasn't at all what I expected. I was mortified to have to quit and so I had my best friend call and do it for me!!!! What a coward I was, but it worked and I could sleep that night:)
I found a much better job too.

Don't sweat it, you can back out - yes. Just give them a call and tell them that you've thought about it a bit more and it's just not what you're looking for. Apologize, tell them you're sorry for any inconvenience this might cause them, etc. etc. Priority is YOU and whether or not they understand (they probably will) - don't worry about it. Who knows?? They might offer you more money and better hours? Good Luck!

based on what you are saying you should stay at your current job.
Let your " new " boss know as quickly as possible to save face with them in the future. You never know you might need that job one day.

I think that you need to be transparent with the hiring person. Tell them that you've understood that they pay would be higher and the hours worked different... I think that they'll tell you if they can change that to what you expected / understood... if they don't change their mind/proposal, then you'll have your decision made...

just talk to the manager at the place where you were hired and tell them that after sleeping on it you've decided that the hours and pay do not meet your needs.. no worries
