sorry sude you wont be able to see it. a couple of reasons
1.its in the northern hemisphere and yiu live in the westlern.

i know this because i also live in ny and i looked out all night, the comet was not seen by me

nicely, ..., suitable now it relatively is interior the constellation Andromeda (purely to the spectacular of M34 on June ninth) and could quickly be coming into the Constellation Perseus. checkout the hyperlink below for a finder chart on Comet McNaught, No this comet is C/2009 R1. So it relatively is a distinct comet.

Sun sets at 4:48, look then, very close to the Sun.

If Manhattan is in front of the Sun the the comet might be blocked by a skyscraper!

Tonight is probably the last possible night before it's too close to the Sun, and it will be difficult.

At around 5:10 PM, look to the right and down from Venus.
It will be very low, very close to setting.

You'll need a clear view of the western horizon, and probably binoculars.

This will be your last night without equipment to block out the sun.

After it's been around the sun, it will only be visible in the southern hemisphere

it should be visible in NY...it is just a matter of when it will be visible....
