I don't know about supplements that you ingest but you can get lotions that you put on for a few days before you go away that prepare your skin for the sun. Boots sell them I think. Plus use a tan accelerator while you're away. I also find the tan maximising aftersun from Piz Buin excellent for developing a tan on holiday, it increases the melatonin or something that is produced by sun exposure

If you have really fair skin then what you need is to go and have an airbrush tan before you go and then plaster on the factor 40 once you get there. If you have blue eyes and fair skin you are more likely to get skin cancer if you sunbathe. There is a reason that our skin doesn't tan well - it's not supposed to. There are some really good fake tans out there at the moment and they look just like the real thing. Sun damage stays on your skin forever and will cause wrinkles too. So to keep yourself looking young and sexy, stay out of the sun at lunch time, use a high factor sun cream, wear a hat and sunglasses and you'll still be looking sexy by the pool in 10 years rather than looking like Donatella Versace.

I took Holland and Barrett tan tablets last year when I went to Egypt. They are massive big horse tablets and you take 3 a day. They dont work at all as I have come back from Spain browner than I did there. A couple of saunas and scrubs the week before you go and one or two while you're there if poss is good to ensure its your nice fresh skin and not dead skin and dirt being exposed. Dont use a low factor tho you will only burn. Sunburn and a suntan are not the same thing and sunburn is soooooooooo unnattractive. Have a nice time! xx

Try nuetrogena build-a-tan. Its a lotion so it goes on smoother with less streaks then a foam or spray. Make sure you rub in really good. Sometimes I mix it with a little lotion just to make sure theres no streaks, but if you do that it will dilute the tanner and you wont get as tan. This is like the 3rd question I've seen about tanning. I think I just might use my self tanner today!!

Since you have fair skin, before you go on vacation you would want a base tan so you dont burn. Try jergens tinted lotion. Its a great lotion and tans over time so no streaks and looks natural

Anything that contains carrotene - carrots, apricots, tomatoes...
Full-body scrub the day before also helps (just don't forget to use sunscreen)
