The navy discharged me with a bleeding disorder in July, they told me that the VA would help me with this disorder. I filied my paper work with the VA in July, it is now Jan,07 and I just got a letter telling me that I am not going to get any help from them nor from the Navy because my disorder has to be cronic....I have not had a job since July, I have not seen a hemotalogist since July either, simply because I can't afford it. I bleed so much that I can't leave my house to even go to the store....I never got a second opinion to verify that I even have this bleeding disorder because it is not common for my race. I was discharged with no money and no help from the VA medical system. I need justice and I need it now!! If anyone out there knows how to sue these people or have info on how to seek justice please help me!!!!!! Thank you!

First call your LOCAL U.S. House of Representatives office. Each representative will have a special person in his or her office that deals with veterans issues. They will likely be able to work out your problem- they have a lot of pull with the VA. Next, contact your U.S. Senator's office- the local office. If you get the run around, which you shouldn't- call your Rep. and Senators' Washington D.C. office. Last resort, contact the Committee on Veterans' Affairs in the House or Senate. They are committed to helping people with these problems. Call your local office first because that is where the work actually gets done. I have a hard time with the idea that you aren't being offered medical help. I can see if your condition was pre-existing that you may not be entitled to VA service related disability (like a check for disability); however, all veterans are offered the services by VA hospitals- even if you were discharged. If you can't get any resolution, the VA has an internal court system which will likely hear this issue if it gets that far. The problem is... attorneys are limited by how much they can charge a veteran to represent them in these types of cases so it is unlikely that an attorney will take your case unless they do it pro bono. The simple fact is that they just won't make any money off of a case like this. But, if you do bring action, you don't HAVE to have an attorney for the VA proceedings. Good luck!

Call your senator, right away, it's one of the reasons we elect them. Then you're going to need a second opinion, see if there is a low cost clinic around. Get you records from the Navy, you did see a Dr. for the condition in the navy right? So there will be records.

My dad has had a lot of problems with the VA, and he's already spent two years fighting them, with no end in sight. So I'd get your records, a second opinion, and make your phone calls.

Sorry, I couldn't be more help.

It's too bad you have this disorder but you can't blame it on the Navy, the Navy did not cause it. It's not a service related injury so why should the government be liable?
