I know you're not supposed to mix formula and breast milk because it does something to the iron, but does anyone know if it's okay to mix formula and cow's milk? I'm trying to ween my 1 year old.

Yes. Start with 3 parts formula to one part whole milk. Once he gets used to that, increase the milk and decrease the formula gradually. He's got to stay on the whole milk until he's at least 2 years old because he needs the fat in the milk.

Actually, it is OK to mix formula and breast milk together. My pediatrician informed me of this. As far as cow's milk, as long as your infant is over 1 yr. old, it is OK to mix cow's milk with formula. If you are trying to wean your 1 yr. old off of breast milk, or formula, then you might want to try a gradual approach. Mix a little whole milk each day into the formula, gradually increasing the amount.

i had to slowly wean my son to cows milk too. initiate with a million/4 milk, 3/4 formulation for 2-3 days. then a million/2 and a million/2 for 2-3 days and then 3/4 milk, a million/4 formulation and them attempt basically milk. yet you've to shrink a touch better if he receives picky. or basically provide his the milk all day. With not something else to drink he ought to drink the milk. Thats what I what I had to do with my son because he blending them made it worse on him. He has reflux although.

Okay, you should have said that the baby is a year old. Yes it is ok. I have done this with all my babies, the Dr. said it was ok. Start with 3/4 formula and 1/4 milk and continue to add more milk over time.

If your baby is one, I think it is okay to mix formula with whole milk. At least that's what I did with my son. If you just change from formula to whole milk(cow's milk), it could upset his/her tummy and then you would be stuck with dealing with constipation.

dont give your baby cows milk. they're still very young and could develop an allergy to milk if given too early.

cows milk? no. babies do not have the digestive systems to process the cows milk until they are about a year.

i would say not, you are not supposed to give a baby cows milk till they are a year old.
