Not one from the Trans Fat ban. This is all really snowball effect of the Smoking ban. Welcome to the new America, the America the Liberals have wanted. The America where the Govt babysits you and runs your life. Should have fought while you had a chance. Not that it is too late. It's just that things are going downhill and we need to take back the power if we truly want to have power back. We can't say well we need to have the Govt do this or it won't be done. We need to use the power of the pocketbook.

One of the snowball effects is the next target will be saturated fats, which make up 10 to 15% of some peoples' diets.
Why are so many people blind to the fact that such government edicts are dangerously close to authoritarianism and contrary to every principle this country was founded upon?

its a good thing that they ban trans fats so that we can begin the road to keep people healthy and not fat in this country. The thing is that we need to not get carried away with the laws so that there is still some freedom in what we eat. but it is good because it will eventually lead to the banning of other harmful products

The government limiting things they deem to be harmful to you is not a new idea.
Take for example censorship, the removal of imagery and words from media that they government feels are inappropriate. In a smaller sense the rating system on all TV, Movies, and Games. The government has determined what is age appropriate.
Some laws designed to be for our own protection such as seat-belt laws.
There are limitations of concentration of alcoholic beverages.
There are already restrictions in place on the food we consume. Whether it be nutrient values Cereal, banning unpasteurized milk. We have plenty of restrictions in our day to day lives "for our own safety"
The banning of trans fats is just one of many. I like to look at it like smoking, currently obesity is beating out smoking as a cause of death, since you can't ban fat people, why not ban a substance known to make them fat?

None. There are several European countries that have already enacted similar legislation...eg Denmark. Last I heard there was no uprising over there.
Look! The food industry should be MADE to do everything possible to ensure that we consume is safe. This means getting rid of trans fat which in my opinion is akin to getting rid of mercury in makeup at the turn of the C20th.....

Neither. i do not see any reason the authorities must be education people about the chance of trans fat or requiring eating places to inform people. If people favor to stay away from trans fat, they could only ask. If sufficient people care, eating places will promote that they are trans fat loose. if truth be recommended, this nanny state regulation is designed to make people care. the alternative of even if to devour them must be left as a lot as us, notwithstanding the alternative of even if to bypass to eating places that notify us about them must be left as a lot as us too. If people fairly cared, eating places will be falling throughout one yet another to promote that they are trans fat loose. notwithstanding the nanny state believes that persons *could* care.

The US government has already declared itself Nanny of The People by instituting anti-drug laws, socialist wealth-redistribution policies, and censoring the programming on your TV. Controlling the food supply is just the next step.

as more bans are passed, more will come. while you may or may not agree with a particular ban,it may eventually result in a ban of something you like or consume..
